How come my ears pop ?

my ears have started to pop now and then and has never happened before, why is this?
Answer:
It has something to do with differences in air pressure.
It could be one of several items. Some are minor, well, most...

In any case, on theoff chance it isn't, you may wish to see your doctor.
pressure. Have you moved? Have you had a head cold?
Air pressure. Happens to me every time I ride a plane.
We are all sensitive in different ways to the air pressure, i have it regularly.
The eustachian tube goes from the middle ear to the nasoparnyx in the throat. This is how the air pressure is equalized in the middle ear. In adults, the eustachian tube is normally closed and usually opens when a pressure or vacuum occurs in the middle ear. However if you have been sick or have allergy drainage there could be a build up around
the opening of the eustachian tube creating a blockage which will make a popping sound.
This is probably due to pressure in the Eustachian tubes. This is caused by a mucus plug in the tube trapping a columnn of air, between it and the ear drum. The pressure in this colum cannot equalise to atmospheric pressure. When you swallow you push the plug closer to the ear drum, this raises the pressure on the drum and may even cause pain.

You could try and oral or a local nasal decongestant and also good old fashioned steam inhalation. If these measures don't help see your GP.
