How do i get rid of a unibrow?

i dont want to shave to make it thicker
Answer:
electrolysis.
Have it waxed about every two weeks or you can do laser.
pluck the middle of course
Wax it
I am part Indian and my eyebrows are kinda like that so I have them waxed
get the finishing touch hair removal pen
Wax it, tweeze it, or get it lasered. There are many options.
You can have it professionally waxed, but that's going to cost you $15.00 every two weeks and it's gonna hurt. Try one of the cold wax products you can get at your local drug store. They are cheap, hurt alot less, don't leave your skin red and pretty simple to use. You just put the little strip on the hair you want to remove, pull in the opposite direction of hair growth and no unibrow for 21 days!
wax or if not do the eyebrow threading that works longer
luck or wax

How do i get rid of a scar?

i have a scar on my wrist from cutting...and i really need to get rid of it...how do i do that using household idems?
(i cant use stuff made for it cuz my parents will see...)
its not that bad of a scar you can barley even see it but i need it to be GONE thanx so much
Answer:
Stop now. When you are older you can go to a Dermatologist and have a skin abrasion to clear up the scarring. For now, I do not know of any household mumbo jumbo that will get rid of those many layers of skin growing back together in an imperfect way.

Heres a website for "derma blend" that hides scarring. Sounds like pancake makeup basically.
buy a tube of vitamin e cream, great stuff
You need to get some money, go to a drug store and buy one of those creams made to get rid of scars. Until then a little make up may be able to conceal it.

use "MEDERMA" cream. in 7 weeks you can see the result.
you know you can rid of scars if you work carefully. if you are playing, then you had a bruise, "gamutin" mo na agad. ok? i think scar removers cost about more than 1000 like what i saw on tv. if you dont have a cable its on channel 13 but if you have i dont know the channel because we dont have a cable line.

How do i get rid of a pimple fast.?

i want to get rid of a pimple fast but i dont want to buy store products does anyone have and good suggestions.
Answer:
Use the white of an egg and leave on over night

Toothpaste On Over Night

Wash your face twice a day in warm salty water.

Another method is to massage the face with the skin of lemon before washing with lukewarm water.

Apply fresh lemon juice on the affected area overnight. Wash off with warm water next morning.

Grind orange peel with some water to a paste and apply on affected parts. One of the best acne home remedies.
quick solution, find some white clay and stick it on the pimple and leave it for overnight and in morning its gone. well try to masterbate less often. your harmones are the root cause of problems.
You should dab a small amount of toothpaste on the pimple. The pimple should dry out after a few hours!
I suggest toothpaste. Just make sure that it isn't strong, just something normal. If it's strong, you'll end up looking like someone placed an imprint on your face. When you do leave toothpaste on the pimple overnight, wash your face with hot water and splash on cold. That way you open your pores in your face and when you splash cold water after the hot you close your pores and have less of a chance of getting more pimples, or at least a lot more then usual.

How do i get rid of a crick in my neck?

it hurts really bad and i think im dying
Answer:
go to a chiropractor. they'll for sure get the crick out. i swear it's like night and day after paying a visit. If it hurts that bad, it's worth it to pay the money.
Put a heating pad on . After about 15 minutes, start moving your head very slowly. The heat will loosen the tight muscles in the neck. Repeat this process until it moves more freely. Take Advil or Tylenol also.

How do I get over a fear of syringes?

When I have to have blood taken or get a shot I can make myself do it. Blood is the worst because you just have to sit there with the thing sticking in you... Irks me so badly that I laugh hysterically like a maniac before it happens and while its happening... and then a few minutes after its all done I will faint. I want to get over this.
Answer:
I just had to go all the time when I was young, I suggest not paying attention to it, close you eyes, talk to the docter (nurse) imagine things (whatever you like) think on a problem you have (homework, essay, story you can't get any further due to writers block x)) and also..know that it is only a prick and you can't get anything besides a tiny amount of pain, no matter what. I had a bad cut (don't ask) and had like.a lot. yes. a lot of shots to get all of my knee prepped up for the rest of the day x) It is only a prick, and if you just look at it, you should notice that..it isn't that bad! The worst is not bad at all, I could think of several more painful or akward things (or both)

If it is a phobia, mihgt be difficult to deal with, sounds pretty severe..but remember that you are not subject to what you fear, you can overcome it, fear comes from in you, not from the item you fear. Turn the fear off. Not easy. But do-able.
I wish you luck, and remember, the fear comes from in YOU, not it.
Conquor it!
Reft =D
It helps not to get into heavy anxiety before you have an injection or blood drawn. It also helps not to watch the needle go in. Put your mind on something pleasurable and don't think about the short procedure.
I had a slight fear of needles when I went to give blood the first time. However I didn't bother looking when they put it in and I was fine. What you can do is not look at it and the person taking your blood will tell you when it's over. That's what I do and now I'm perfectly fine with needles as long as the person taking my blood is a professional.
I can't tell you how as I am terrified of them as I was as far back as I can remember. I just take a deep breathe and don't look when they do it.
I never have fainted though.
It's a common fear. You could meditate prior to your visit. Or use visualization. That where you sit with your eyes close and try to picture the needle penetrating your skin. Then you take a deep breath and let it out slowly telling your self "see that didn't hurt". Do this over and over again and again. When you are sure it's working. the next step is to try and feel the pick when you get a needle. And tell your self how silly it was to be afraid of a little pick like that. The third is to watch as they put the needle in and keep reminding your self that this is natural and people have it done every day without fear.
It will probly take you a course of several years to get to this point. But it is a start.

How do i get onto the UK health sytem? or find out if i'm already on it?

I'm an Australian and UK duel national (lived in the UK until i was 8) %26 am now back in the UK for a couple of years. I was wondering how i'd get onto the health system over here as i need to see a dentist pretty soon (Dam wisdom teeth), i might already be on it from when i lived here as a child.
Could someone please tell me who i should see about it?
Answer:
If you think that you are gonna get a dentist on the NHS you can forget it. People who have lived here all their lifes cant get a Dentist. I think you will end up paying for that yourself.
With regards to a doctor call your local surgery and ask them. They will be able to help you whether you are still on the system or new to the system.
you still have to pay for dental treatment in the UK it's not free. go to your local Dentist and apply. they may ask to see your pass port for dual nationality.
Good luck with the dentist thing. I have friends that cannot access a dentist nearer than a 250 mile round trip. And they have to pay for treatment!!

How do I get myself motivated?

I am recently divorced. I am finding difficulty in getting myself motivated to do anything productive. I can't seem to find the drive to do house work or projects, I am fighting myself to excercize and eat healthy. How do I motivate myself to get my butt up off the couch?
Thanks for your input.
Answer:
Sounds like you might benefit from some talk therapy. It's possibly you are suffering depression as a result of this major life change. I've found therapy really helpful in getting motivated; it's worth a try.
First be easy with yourself, you are coming out of and experiencing a life changing event. Relax and you will find motivation. You will not feel the way you are feeling forever! It gets better but in the meantime, please take care of yourself and be kind to yourself! Sometimes we just need to be still to center ourselves again! If you know yourself, you will eventually get it together again and be better for the experience of taking your time to get your center back.

I hope great times to come for you and to you!

How do I get get rid of spots and stretch marks?

I have used cocoa butter but i didn't know how long I was suppose to use it so I stopped.then i heard about some kind of serum
Answer:
There are a thousand "home remedies" for stretch marks. None work. There are some laser treatments that reduce scarring, but they are expensive.
some kind of serum named strivectin shows on commercials often its supposed 2 work. i may try after i have my baby cuz i got a few from pregnancy
Vitamin E can help smooth away stretch marks. But you see coco butter only helps If the stetch marks are new (reddish or puple in color) it doesn't help "white" old stretch marks nothing does but laser treatments and within time they usually fade away.
there is a product called strivectin that helps with stretch marks...
also use moisturizer.
For stretch marks and scars use vitamin E, rub it on the area or take it orally. I don't know what kind of "spots" you are talking about. Acne - use clearasil cream or anything else with sasylic acid in it.

Lately iv been feeling a bit run down, not so much lathargic but fluey. i keep getting cold shivers, head aches, runny nose, sore throat. yet it's not a proper cold, i still have energy to go to the gym and stuff.
I had a really bad cold a few months back but since then it hasn't seemed to shift itself, it'll go for a few days but it'll always come back an nigggle at me.

Answer:
take 1000mg of vitamin C a day. it will help you get better and keep you from getting sick in the future if you keep it up! Good Luck and i hope you feel better soon!
use a daily homeopathic dose of thymuline for 6 weeks
Eat loads of fruit %26 veg to get plenty of vitamins, drink lots of water and make sure you are getting enough sleep. Should be better in a couple weeks..
Boogey on down...get out and enjoy yourself even if it is a struggle. I remember a while back when I felt like you are feeling now. I really did not feel like going out but was dragged out by my husband. The next day I could not believe how much better I felt.

However, perhaps it will be just as well to go and get a check up at the docs.

All the best my dear.
you may have an infection. if you have an infection any where in your body it can make you feel so run down. i think its good you go to the gym. see your GP and get there advice. you may need to see a dietitian if your going gym you may need the advice of which foods to take whilst working out. but i would go to the doctors and see if there is an infection you just might need antibiotics to clear the last dreds of it away. good look.x

How do i get a good night sleep ?

Answer:
Nearly everyone suffers this problem at one varied point or another in their life, some even more than others such as possibly your case. Many do not want to take addictive drugs which is quite understandable, but I know how to treat insomnia, naturally. For a very economical price you can get natural melatonin from your local Wal-Mart in the vitamin section which helps your body to produce more natural Serotonin at bed time to enhance sleep. There are zero side effects, other than a good nights sleep, and it is non-habit forming. It is just a great vitamin supplement.

Search the key word "Melatonin" on your Yahoo search engine to confirm what I'm telling you. It naturally provides me a great nights sleep every night after trying for years to sleep at night before I found this dietary supplement. I wake refreshed and full of energy as I am only promoting my body's own ability to sleep. The best brand comes in a purple bottle from the company "Natrol" and is labeled Melatonin 5mg (1 tablet at night). Again, it is non-narcotic as it is a natural supplement and is found in the vitamin and health section at your local Wal-Mart. It's the best kept secret for sleep I've ever experienced for a great nights sleep every night. By helping the body to produce more Serotonin, which is your body's "chill out" hormone, the Melatonin lowers stress, eases your mind, and thus promotes restful sleep.
go to bed earlier
Cut down/eliminate caffeine (including in chocolate)
Make sure you have adequate exercise
Make sure you drink 1-2L water a day
Make sure you're not hungry
Try relaxation exercises or something to de-stress if you're stressed
Try to go to bed a hr. or so before you want to be asleep. Make sure to get atleast 8 hrs. of sleep a night.

Maintain a regular bed and wake time schedule, including weekends.
Create a sleep-conducive environment that is dark, quiet, comfortable and cool.
Finish eating at least two to three hours before your regular bedtime.
Avoid alcohol close to bedtime. It can lead to disrupted sleep later in the night.

Check out this website:http://www.bettersleep.org/onbettersleep...
dont eat 2 hours before sleep.
MELATONIN - an over-the-counter supplement for sleep--it helps even those who work rotating shifts, and those with jet lag to sleep. It's in the vitamin aisle of most all stores.

How do I get a 2ND opinion from a doctor?

Answer:
You go to a different doctor, bring your tests results if you have any, describe your symptoms, and see what that doctor's opinion is. Ask each one what they think of the other's opinion, and that should help you decide on your course of action.

No, they don't mind if you do this. It's *your* health, after all.
Ask him again.
go to a different doctor. tell your doctor that you appreciate their opinion but to be safe you would like to get several opinions to make sure that you are able to make the right decision for your health.
Go to a different doctor.
Generally, the best way to go about this is to simply thank your doctor and let him/her know that you would like to get a second opinion. If you're in an HMO, you might need to get a referral by your primary physician to visit another doctor for that opinion, but otherwise, you should simply be able to go to another doctor and get checked out.

If something comes up different, make sure to discuss that with the first doctor, or put the doctors in touch with eachother.
All a second opinion is, is another doctors opinion..So to get a second opinion, you should go see a second doctor and get his/her opinion.
go to another Dr..most doctors stick together.. webmd is a good site

How do I find a nursing home for my 75 year-old mother?

Answer:
That is so tough!! You will undoubtedly get lots of good advice here on Answers.

I think the first thing that needs to be done is to define is the level of skilled nursing she requires, and the main physical reason that she needs the nursing. For instance, a person with Alzheimer's or other dementia is probably not going to be well served in a nursing home that is heavily used for physical rehab. I went to various web sites including Medicare, that rated nursing homes based on standard review criteria, but in the end, I did not find that info as useful as I had hoped.

Let me tell you my experience, it is probably not the usual, thank heaven, but I just want to share it.

My mom and dad were admitted to a respected hospital in a prosperous area on the same day, she for imbalance and falling and fairly advanced Alzheimer's; he, for physical injuries from trying to be her one and only caretaker. At the hospital, she got out of bed and fell out of bed multiple times a day whenever family was not at her side. Two days later, they were both admitted to an "award-winning" nursing home, locally touted as best of the best and with no violations. (This is in Florida, so there was no shortage of competition). Mom already looked like she had been dropped out of a plane, she had so many swollen and discolored bruises and lacerations.
Dad received excellent physical rehab there and was out in less than two weeks. After a month, my mom had fallen and broken her hip (right AT the nursing station). She could not communicate her needs, and often had impacted stools and other such pains that she could not describe. I found out that at no time did they realize she had a substantial partial denture! One day she managed to communicate to me that they were "always mad at her".

Against everyone's advice, and with great trepidation, I moved her to another nursing home in town. It had a bad rep and many violations. But it had an Alzheimer's wing. Yes, it was a sad and maddening nuthouse, but that is what they did and they did it well, by our experience. Mom lived another 18 months there, and never had a fall or an injury, and as far as I could tell, no one was ignored, but neither were they ever scolded. When I had to return to Virginia, I was comforted by knowing that I had found the best place for her. I was kept informed of every little thing -- there were not many -- as was my dad who was back at home nearby the nursing home.

I am telling you this NOT to scare you, but to advise you to keep your eyes and ears open and don't put your total and unquestioning trust in the hands of "experts", ratings or even hearsay. Don't settle if you are not as happy as you think you should be with the arrangements.

Best of luck to both of you!
Do not jump into the first one you find. Make sure that it is a place where she will be comfortable and have her needs met. Tour different facilities and ask about the routines and staffing... how many clients per staff member etc. Also keep in mind the proximity to family and how easy it will be for family to get there to visit her. Best of luck to you, I am sure this is not an easy time.
Ask lots of questions when you get there and look around the facility. This can usually be done during that Nursing Homes business hours. Check out other patients,do they look cared for? do the employees look neat and clean..happy to be at their job or do they looked stressed? Does the nursing home smell of foul odors? does it look dirty and unkempt?
Many nursing homes are usually short staffed. Look at the nursing homes in your area and google them, ask to see their last state survey. Do they have a high skin rate(which means alot of bed sores) It is aloud to be seen by the public. The internet will provide you with links to check out the facilities near you and what their state survey was.
My best advice is to choose a nursing home that is SMALL and comfortable when you walk in. What is their menu like? is it food that your mom will enjoy? do they offer alternates at meal time incase she does not want it?
Another big thing is this..make sure you visit your mom often. Make sure that you understand the ratio from patients to a CNA(most places a caretaker will have up to 15-20 patients to care for on her own). The CNA's(certified nursing assistants) are required to check their patients and assist them with their needs but it is a very overwhelming position and family members should come up there as much as possible to be involved with the patients daily routines. The CNA's are not able to be in every patients room every 15 minutes for they have patients to feed,bathe,change,turn,etc..so you must be very understanding of this before you decide a nursing home is the best decision.
The healthcare industry has its pro's and con's and with Nursing homes..its all about choosing the best one in your area. You must do your research..even talk to other family members that have their loved ones there too.
I鈥檓 a writer for Gilbert Guide, the foremost resource for everything senior care. It looks like the other answerers gave some great advice for judging a facility once you arrive. Having helped many families move through this process, I have some easy-to-follow advice for deciding which facilities to visit.

1. Make a list of your mother鈥檚 needs and potential future needs. Do she require a facility that cares for people with mild memory impairment? Does she have special dietary requirements? Will she require more than two weekly showers? Does she require assistance with eating?

2. Decide on a location. Are you flexible with geography, or do you need to find a facility within a certain radius?

3. What type of funding will you be using? Private? Long-term care insurance?

4. Will you be looking for private accommodations?

5. Is a full activity schedule important to your mother?

With these questions in mind, you should now formulate a list of the nursing homes in your area so you can ascertain which meet your needs before you begin making visits. I recommend using Gilbert Guide鈥檚 online subscription service to find local facilities and answer all these questions. You can read unbiased reviews of the nursing homes in your area if you live in any of the following regions: Philadelphia, PA, San Francisco, Bay Area, CA, San Francisco, East Bay, CA, Los Angeles, CA New York City, NY or Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex, TX. If you do not live in these areas, visit http://www.medicare.gov/ for a listing of local facilities. You won鈥檛 be able to read reviews, but you鈥檒l still be able to formulate a list so you can call for answers. Make sure to check the deficiencies for each facility. Keep in mind many nursing homes have deficiencies. What鈥檚 important is whether or not they were resolved, how and how quickly.

Medicare has a comprehensive nursing home checklist that you can bring with you to each facility you visit:
http://www.medicare.gov/nursing/checklis...

I also recommend reading as much as you can on the topic of nursing homes. Visit our skilled nursing category blog to learn more:

I hope this information helps. If you have any questions I may be able to answer for you, you can email me at info@GilbertGuide.com.

How do I find a good primary doctor and dentist in a new town?

Previously, I've only used my parents' physicians from my hometown that I've had all my life. Now that I'm in a new location with no trusted peers in the community, how do I gauge the worth of general care physicians? Would they be able to retrieve my medical, dental, and orthodonical records easily? When I find my physicians, should I schedule a general check-up so they have a baseline to begin with?
Answer:
Your new doctor obtaining your old records is easy..you just sign a release, and they fax the request. You can get your own copies, too. Just call and ask. You will probably be told to send a written request, so that they have your signature on file.

As for finding a new doctor, ask around. If you bought a place, call the Realtor that helped you. Ask your landlord. If you have kids, ask at their school. Call the public health nurse and get her opinion. Doctors are like clothes..you may have to try on a few before you find one you like. You can even ask your old doctor if he/she knows of anyone in your new area. Good luck.
first, you need to decide what health insurance company you want to have. once you have decided, you can go to the insurance web site and find a doctor that is affiliated with your insurance and that is close to you. then, once you have the information from the physician and dentist, you can always request a copy of your medical and dental chart from your previous doctor and dentist to be sent to your new health care providers. this will help the providers to know you while you get to also know them.
Along with what the people above me said, also ask a Pharmacist. I've been a pharmacy technician for 3 years and Pharmacists generally know all about the doctors in their area. Good luck!

How do I fall asleep when disturbed by a phlegm buildup?

Every few weeks regardles of the weather,I find a I have a major build up of phlegm that bothers me only when I lie down.
Answer:
hack it up and spit it out
GREG,

MILK AND MILK PRODUCTS CAUSE PHLEGM FORMATION SO CUT DOWN AND SEE THE EFFECTS.
There is a product called MUCINEX that works... take these with plenty of water.
Dairy has been seen as one of the major ontributors to mucus build-up. You may allergic to something your are eating. If that's not the case what you need to do it drink loads of hot liquids, like tea. It'll flush all the bad stuff out of your system, instead of it being stagnant up in there.

How do i fall asleep easier?

i dont drink caffinated drinks after 4 o clock, i do take naps but they last like one hour..but im having trouble falling alseep
Answer:
pretend it's morning and the alarm just went off and you just hit the snooze button. i never fall asleep faster than when i'm looking forward to those extra 10 minutes of sleep!
Well, keep up with a regular sleeping cycle for one thing, do regular work out is another. When you can not fall asleep, do not force yourself. Even get out of the bed until you can fall asleep. Also, you can do a same regular routine before bed time such as read a novel, brush teeth, something to let your body know (condition) for sleep time. Oh, one more thing, what works good for me is drink herb tea at bed time.
dont take naps drink somthing cold like milk or take a sleep pill idont recomend that but some do
Have you considered sleeping pills? I use Advil PM and that seems to work well.
Try reading in bed before you go to sleep.
Sleep for 30-45 minutes. It could be that your body thinks your having to much rest. Limit the amount of caffeine you consume. Cause if you drink too much, even if it is before 4pm, you can still have the stuff in your system and it will cause you to stay up all night.
I would suggest that you dont take naps. I would also suggest that you start writing down the times that you start to feel your sleepiest. I find that I get my best sleep from 1am to 6am.
My Options:
1.Don't take naps
2.Drink warm milk
3.Do something exhausting like exercise
4.Listen to music when sleeping
5.If all fails take sleeping pills
get up earlier and work out for at leat 45 minutes. Have a glass of wine with dinner and get comfy in your bed, watching your favorite DVD.
watching tv before i go to bed makes it hard for me to fall asleep. turn all the lights out except for 1 or 2 so that it is dim at least for 30 min before you go to bed--this kinda calms you down. also, chamomile tea helps some people fall asleep--might help you.
Read Plato's Republic, it put me to sleep.
Skip your nap and be physically active. Like jogging, a sport, or even walking.
Try not to eat anything sweet before bed, also try a hot bath before bed or and reading a book. If that doesn't help, try some over the counter sleep aids. I just bought my insomniac husband Uni-som extra strenght and that seems to work right now. If problem persists, see your doc. there may be a problem or at least you'll get an rx of like lunesta or something.
completely stop drinking cafiene and stop taking naps. drink lots of water and eat a healthy diet. the food you eat can really effect your sleeping patterns. f you eat a lot of junk food, sleeping can become difficult. When you take hour naps during the day, you may be confusing your body. Go to bed and stay in bed, wether you fall asleep or not, keep a sleeping schedule. Also, try and wake up at the same time. If you give your body what it needs during the day and a schedule to follow, sleeping may become easier. If not, talk to your doctor. I wouldn't try sleeping drugs though, becuase they have a high risk of dependeny.
Drink lots of alcohol.
Well....close your eyes and think of something you like then you keep thinking and then you will have a dream.
also if you have an orgasm you'll fall asleep faster.
Try putting on classical music on your radio while lying in bed. Then, when your tired, you can turn off the radio. Really eases my mind before I sleep.
Take some over the counter Melatonin 1-3 MG...it is very safe...a natural supplement. Or take Sleep N' Restore another natural sleeping aid.
Know the problem well, dude.

The best help I have had came from the book called: The Hibernation Diet. Check out the link below.

Although this book is aimed at the weight management problem, what I learned about "recovery mode" and all the hormones associated with getting out of 'fight and flight' mode is helping me turn my life around.
Try taking VALARIAN it is all natural and you should be able to get it from any chemist or health food store it works wonders. or put a drop of lavender on your pillow it will help to.

How do I diminish the scarring on my arms?

I've burned both my arms earlier and the (small) marks are still visible. Is there any product that can help diminish the darkness a bit so it blends better with the rest of my skin color?
Answer:
If you want something natural, non-chemical, then try using Rose Hip oil (or Rose Hip Seed Oil), it effectively reduces scars caused by acne, surgery, burns, chicken pox, injuries and cuts.

Rose Hip Oil's potent cell regenerating and wound-healing properties help to replace ugly scar tissue with healthy, normal skin. It not only remodels damaged skin structure, it also improves skin color and elasticity.

Rose Hip seed oil is a pressed seed oil, extracted from the seeds of a rose bush (Rosa rubiginosa) which grows wild in the southern Andes.

It is unique among vegetable oils in containing retinol (Vitamin A). Rose hip seed oil is high in the essential fatty acids - linoleic acid or omega-3, and linolenic acid or omega-6. It is commonly used in skin care products. It is used for a variety of skin conditions, including dermatitis, acne and eczema, for mature and sun burnt skin as well as brittle nails.

Rose Hip Oil can help you look better than ever before. It has been used for centuries by the people of Chile. Scientific investigation into its properties began in the 1970s.

Today its remarkable effects are recognized globally and it is recommended by dermatologists, skin specialists and cosmetic surgeons.

Read more about it here:

There is a product on the market called Bio oil which is supposed to help scarring fade.
I have used a capsule of evening primrose oil, pierce it and rub the oil onto the scar. It worked for me.
Try using liquid vitamin E and rub it on your scars (it makes the scar tissue softer).

How do I decrease the amount of mucus in the back of my throat?

I have trouble singing because all the mucus in the back of my throat. How can I get rid of mucus either in general and/or right before I have to sing?
Answer:
You can gargle with salt water for a quick fix. Also, sinuses and allergies can be a major contributor to post nasal drip. Get some over-the-counter medication to help your allergies or sinus drainage, and that could significantly get rid of the source of the problem.
Stop smoking...oh and warm salt water before a show
try antihistamines
Try drinking hot tea. It works for me.
Avoid milk, and try a hot drink, like tea. Or coffee, no sugar or milk
Drink / gulp water.
I get "muck throat" every morning and I take large gulps of water and I drink lots.
Hock a lugie b4 each show, and drink hot tea b4hand. It can b annoying, but it'll help. Candies work really well, but nothing honey or lemon, that'll make it worse!
You sound like you have what is called post nasal drip.
It can be helped with a decongestant.
You can get these at any drugstore.
Robitussin and other syrups or pills are available.
Make sure the label reads decongestant.
You need to wash your sinuses with salt solution...buy a nedi pot (washes sinuses).they showed this on a Oprah show when Dr. Oz was on.
Try a little bit of hot honey lemon water. One site I read recommended a mix of baking soda and water (because too much lemon can dry your throat.) Make sure to avoid dairy products before singing. They often cause you to produce more mucus. Make sure to drink plenty of water- you don't want to be too dry either. Stay healthy, too! A cold isn't going to help the situation. Good sleep, eating well, etc can go a long way.
I have a lot of trouble with my throat also. Finally after going to an E.N.T. I was told I have Acid Reflux. I was given medicine, and told to change my diet. Reduce spicy foods, oranges, tomatoes, and fried foods. (basically everything I like). I will do this and see if it works. Hope I helped you.

How do I cure and prevent acne?

Can you give me all life experiances and tips on how. Thnks.
Answer:
Hi, I have been a long time acne sufferer and I have to tell you that its one of those things you wish you could avoid. First off, you have to understand that it has nothing to do with food and how many times you wash your face. Acne is simply pores that are clogged with oil which may later get infected by touching your face with unclean hands.

I tried everything on the market and my acne only got worse. So don't even bother to go for expensive stuff coz they might not work for you as they did for others. Here's how I got rid of my acne, affordably.

In the morning, exfoliate your face with St. Ives Medicated Apricot scrub and leave on face for 1 minute Rinse and wash again with Tea Tree soap, leave on for 1 minute too then rinse with cold water to close up the pores. Apply Tea Tree oil and massage into skin.

Repeat procedure before going to bed. You will see the difference in 2 days or less! I am a living example!

Then, to avoid it, just simply try and stick to the natural stuff. Chemicals tend to aggravate acne so you're best to stick to herbal remedies. And if you can avoid touching your face a lot and squeezing the pimples, this spreads the infection to other parts of your face.

Good luck and do let me know how it goes.

ProActiv, which is advertised alot by celebrities, really does work wonders, if you use it as directed. I don't know about if you have a very intense acne problem, you may need a specialist for dermabrasion or something.
Soak cotton wool in mint juice, and apply every day. Mix cinnamon powder with lime juice to make a fine paste, Apply on pimples. Check out http://useinfo-acne.blogspot.com/... for more useful info.

How do I convince my mother of a nose piercing?

My dad doesn't care, but my mom does. She is saying she doesn't want anything abnormal in my body, due to allergies, but I know she is just using that as an excuse because she just doesn't want her 'well brought up' daughter having one.

All I want is a small little diamond stud. How do I convince her that it is just normal looking, and won't be harmful to my health?
Answer:
Well i have a small diamond studd in my nose. I would try buying a fake magnetic one just to make sure you really, really want it. Show her and let her know if you don't like it it will close in a matter of hours of taking it out. It takes like 4-6 months just to heel. I love mine and it's so little that i still have customers at work that don't evven realize it.
i'm pretty sure some parents are just old fashioned and will never change their mind about peircings. that's how my mom is anyways.
yeah, like the first answer get a magnetic or a paste on one.
My mom told me the same thing, but I did it anyway. If your a grown women your free to make your own choices

How do I convince my dad not to abuse his body?

My dad was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. The doctor told him that if he lost enough weight he wouldn't need his meds. I want him to be healthier but he constantly eats junk food and red meat. How can I convince him to stop and take his health seriously?
Answer:
Estate planning at least forces one to acknowledge their own mortality.
http://www.suzeorman.com/igsbase/igstemp...

Lean red meat (in moderation) is actually acceptable . . diet guidelines.

my aunt is going through the same thing. Just tell him how you feel about his health. If he knows that you want him there for you and you want him to be better; then maybe he would understand more. I told me aunt that same thing and it made her realize that it aint worth losing your life for junk food. its ok to eat it once in a while but not constantly. Your body needs a certain amount of everything.

Express your thoughts and do your part. If he really wants to try ; he will listen to you.

Good Luck! hope you work things out.

How do i close my pores?

I have like small holes in my skin
and i asked a question on here before asking what were they and people said they were pores but on my face you can really see them how do i make them smaller??
Answer:
You can't make your pores smaller...but you can make them APPEAR smaller. Drink lots of water if you don't already. (not only does it help your pores, but it makes your complexion look great)

I would use pore minimizing cream. Clinique has a great cream, but it's around 20-30 dollars. I'm sure there is something that works just as well that you can get for under 10 bucks.
You cant. Pores appear bigger only when they are clogged, even a little. If you don't have a bad acne problem, try a gentle pore cleanser. If u do have an acne problem, try drinking plenty of water all day and taking skin vitamins.
the only time pores will close is during rigor - mortis.
this seems like an extreme step to look better
seeing as rigor - mortis only occurs after death.
dont thik i spelled that right.
could someone tell me the right spelling for rigor-mortis?
Opening and closing pores are a myth invented by beauticians to sell you expensive crap you don't need. I'm not being rude... This is a fact.
Advice about water is correct.
I always finish a shower/wash/shave by splashing cold water on my face. This closes the pores, reducing the likelihood of airborne dirt entering.
moisturise use only cold water on your face
use an astringent

How do I break a bad habbit ?

I have a habbit of chewing on my pen while I am working, all my pens are awful looking at work,
Answer:
It is looking like you are in very tensionos. be positive at work. chew some thing like c.gums, and other eatables. use metal pens it should work for u.
Buy a novelty toy to put on the end of the pen
replace it with a good habit. OR I had a friend that put a rubber band on her wrist and every time she did whatever she wanted to stop doing, she pulled it and let go. the sting on her wrist helped condition her.
control, control and control
you need to consciously aware of the withdrawal symptoms and live with it. Its now scientifically proven that if you can do (or not do) something for 21 days then it has formed the habit.
So all you have to do is control for 21 days and you have got yourself a new habit!
The best way to break any habit is to substitute a better one, but this is a toughie. I can't think of anything that wouldn't be equally annoying, like tapping your fingers, etc. You might try painting your pens with some Tobasco sauce or something irritating like that. Or you might try to figure out what it is that you are stressing over that makes you want to chew your pens and try to eliminate the stress, either by changing whatever it is that is stressing you or reducing your stress level by deep breathing, etc.
keep chewing gum in your mouth. Simple ! :)

Hope it helps.

How do I bandage my toe while waiting for a new nail to grow in?

Recently my right big toe nail detached itself from the nail bed and is slowly falling off. How do I keep good care of the skin in the nail bed so I can assure that the toe nail grows back in as healthy as ever?
Answer:
Wrap a bandaid around the toe or take a guaze and put tape aroud it. To prevent infection you can use triple antibiotic ointment on it. Change the bandage 1-2x a day.
Try using a finger bandage and see if that will fit. Also you can cut a hole in your shoe if it hurts to wear them
Get one of those thick tan bandges and wrap it sevral times around your toe. than wear Tevas or Crocs until your toenail grows back. also, when your toenail starts to grow, change the bandge every 3 days or so.

Good Luck!

How do I avoid them?

I really want to be a singer, but I get colds- a lot. Is there anyway I can avoid them. Mine come on with almost no warning, and they take a hefty toll on my voice. Please help!
Also, if I do get them, are there any remedies that I can use to get over it quickly or at least save my voice? I know if you heat Dr. Pepper up and put some lemon in it, it helps, but is there anything else?
Answer:
I have a few ideas. You could try echinacea, cold fx, or even try goin to the doctor and see if there is a reason why your gettin sick so often!
Wash your hands a lot. I can't believe you want to be a singer. So do I!! I wish I could tel lyou my name but I'm not going to. I want you to reconize me when I'm a singer!!
Yes i get colds a lot too. hehe. but i didnt go outside this winter and dressed up really warm so i didnt get a cold.oph wait i think i did. get cough drops even fi you dont have a cold.

How do health professionals treat anorexia?

Most websites say that anorexia is treated by health professionals, but I need to know how!
Answer:
Weight check-ins, talking, checking blood work, medication, etc.

I see my doctor weekly right now. We talk about school, firends, life, and nutrition. She checks my heart often, gastrointestinal functioning, blood work whenever needed, and my weight. I am on several medications as well. If I show signs of danger, I get a feeding tube and/or hospitalization. I wouldn't be alive without my medical doctor.
My sister was treated for that. When she was in the hospital they put a feeding tube up her nose that goes down to her stomach.
Usually it's with the person in a hospital setting with counseling and 1 to 1 watching of the patient during eatting and for a specified length of time after eatting to be sure there is no purging to break the cycle.

How do health insurances feel about people taking narcotic painkillers?

Do they eventually become concerned or take action if a person is prescribed to them alot? I was just watching a show about narcotic pailkillers and how they are just handed out in ER's. I would think that if an insurance company stepped up, maybe that person wouldn't have such easy access.
Answer:
No most have no problem with it if U need them. I got a letter from mine once that I could never be turned down treatment for my chronic spine. Yes If Ur doc shopping they will stop that quick, I've seen that happen.
Each case is different and you can bet that they look at what's going on. To the other answer, morphine restriction is from the DEA because of the type narcotic it is. I take Oxycontin so I relate to what Ur saying Good question!
I know they dont like it. because I take morphine and can only get so many at a time and cant get an okay to refill until a certain amount of time is up.. I`m sure it would be differant if they had to deall with chronic pain..

How do glasses help people see from far and near?

Answer:
It has to do with the curvature of the lenses-whether or not they are convex or concave. That helps your eye to compensate for problems with diverging and converging. (When the eye is too strong or not strong enough.)
the way the lens are cut and reflect sight

The way the lens are made...they adjust and correct the vision problem.

How do diarrhea tablets work?? like a cork??

no idea how 2 spell it but i just wondered how they work. they gota block u up somewhere...is it like putting a cork up your bum or what??
Answer:
oddly enough I know this one - the drug paralyses the muscles in your intestines so the crap basically sits in your gut.
Usually, waves of contractions pass along the intestines to move everything along, like squeezing a toothpaste tube but when you take immodium or anything else like that it just stops, the bacteria that caused the diorrhea just stays there until you can find a toilet. That is why anti-diorrheals should only be used when it is absolutely necessary that you don;t **** everywhere (like before a long coach trip or going swimming! )
Bodies are pretty good at getting themselves well again and if you let it do what it needs to do (i.e. get that bad stuff out!) then bad tummies usually pass in a few days. The most important thing to make sure of is that you have enough fluids, salts and sugars while this happens.
yea u stick the whole box right up ur butt
ok, i don't know how they work - but thanks for the laugh! i am literally "laughing out loud"! you are funny! can't wait to hear what people think.
They remove water from your bowels, essentially drying out your poop.
If they worked like a cork you would die basically you may have a more internal problem you may want to get checked out It can cause dehydration
Depends on the tablet
1. By allowing greater absorption of water from the intestinal tract.
2.By slowing down the small intestine allowing for greater absorption og nutrients and water.
Imodium works like a charm. Usually one dose does the job. It comes in tablets and liquid. It's over the counter; no presscription is needed.
They either work by decreasing the bowel motility ( motilium) or by thickening the stool. (codeine).

There is some evidence that both my increase the duration of the illness by keeping infected stool in the body for longer, instead of it going down the toilet where it belongs!

How do Bulimics make themselves throw up?

just to clean it up im not Bulimia or anything i just dont understand how sticking a finger down your throat makes you throw up
Answer:
Sticking your finger down your throat causes a gag reflex and it forces you to throw up, your body thinks that you are choking or something is stuck their so it causes you to throw up to clear the area.
its the gag reflex.i think some people dont have it.
Gag reflex. Next time you brush your teeth, try brushing the back of your tongue. That'll do it.
Please don't try and make yourself sick just because u wanna be skinny... just do lots of excercise and eat healthily. please don't make the ones who care and love u worry about u. God bless
Any way they can it is a sickness. And they need help
when u stick a finger down ur throat, it feels like you wanna puke. Why do u wanna know if you're not bulimic?
Gag reflex. Oh, it will!
because if you stick your finger down there, you'll get that feeling that makes you wanna vomit. like when you brush your teeth, and it comes to brushing your tongue already, and you brushed it the wrong way, you'll feel like you gonna vomit

How do athletes wear contacts, glasses or any kind of corrective lens while playing?

i know that not all athletes are 20/20 vision. at least some of them got to wear some kind of corrective lens whether it is contacts or glasses, most likely contacts because it would be hard to play wearing glasses. lets take basktball for example, when players get poked in the eye accidentally, i never see them pick up the contact from the ground , go to the locker room to fix it. so i wonder if it is a requirement for athletes to get a eye laser surgery before they start playing?
Answer:
most with less than perfect vision wear contacts. i wear them, and have been poked in the eye and my contact didn't fall out. so just cause you never saw a bball player pick a contact off the ground, doesn't mean he wasn't wearing any.

How do antidepressents?

how do antidepressents work and why do they take so long to be effective
Answer:
The current most popular group are called SSRIs, selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors.

Serotonin is a brain chemical responsible in part for mood elevation. In many types of impression its levels in the brain fall, a good example is in SAD. Serotonin is stimulated by sunlight, in the winter levels fall and some people become seasonally depressed. Serotonin is manufactured from the amino acid tryptophan which is why tryptophan containing foods and drugs are also said to help mood. A classic example of this is chocolate.

SSRIs like Prozac reduce the break down of serotonin so levels rise, it takes about 3 weeks for this to come about, hence the time delay.
SSRI's (most commonly used) work by delaying the reuptake of seratonin (a neurotransmitter) in your brain, which makes the neurotransmitter "sit" in the synapse longer in a usable form. MAOIs work by inhibiting an enzyme that breaks down seratonin. Both take some time to get to levels at which you will notice a difference.
http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/organization...
A lot of them work by relaxing the muscles in the body.Like most drugs they take long because you need to get a build up of them into your system.
Anti depressants work by balancing the seretonin levels in the brain. They act as a re uptake inhibitor
This link answers you question. If you take any yourself, I hope they work for you in the long run.
they put back into your body what it is you've lost and so the build up takes time to be effective
Use this link to the Mind website,

it should be able to answer these questions for you.

Also see the link below about depression

http://www.mind.org.uk/information/bookl...

Remember that there are other ways and alternative therapies that can also help with depression.

There isn't a magic wand or miracle cure, sorry to say.

I know, I've suffered with clinical depression for over 20 years.

But there is good help and support available.

How do anti biotics work?

will they make the anti bodies and white blood cells less effective
Answer:
Antibiotics divide into 2 groups, bactericidal- these damage the bacteria for example by destroying their outer protective coat allowing the white cells to phagocytose them. Bacteriostatic-these prevent replication allowing the white blood cells more time to mop them up.

This answers half of the second part of your question. There is some evidence that early use of antibiotics means that antibodies to the organism are never formed.

This means that an individual that has faced an organism before, without antibiotics, already has the antibody to it and responds and destroys the organism much faster than someone who previously received an antibiotic.
they attack the germ in your body that is making you sick
Not really. Our antibodies and the body's natural defenses work only at a certain level, however, when the microorganisms increase greatly in number, our body could not cope on its own, that's why we need to take antibiotics. But we should consult a doctor before taking any antibiotic to make sure that we don't get overdosed or underdosed. Underdosage is equally harmful because the microorganisms could become resistant to that certain antibiotic.
No antibiotics inhibit the growth of bacteria. It's kind of like soap. but for your insides haha. They basically fight bacterial infections, but not viral infections. like the flu or colds.
"Antibiotics work to kill bacteria. Bacteria are single-cell organisms. If bacteria make it past our immune systems and start reproducing inside our bodies, they cause disease. We want to kill the bacteria to eliminate the disease.

An antibiotic is a selective poison. It has been chosen so that it will kill the desired bacteria, but not the cells in your body. Each different type of antibiotic affects different bacteria in different ways. For example, an antibiotic might inhibit a bacterium's ability to turn glucose into energy, or its ability to construct its cell wall. When this happens, the bacterium dies instead of reproducing. At the same time, the antibiotic acts only on the bacterium's cell-wall-building mechanism, not on a normal cell's.

Antibiotics do not work on viruses because viruses are not alive. A bacterium is a living, reproducing lifeform. A virus is just a piece of DNA (or RNA). A virus injects its DNA into a living cell and has that cell reproduce more of the viral DNA. With a virus there is nothing to "kill," so antibiotics don't work on it."

So in answer to your question, will they affect the antibodies and white blood cells, then no, as he antobiotic only attacks the bacteria present in the body.
no they will help the white blood cells which are battling the infection and not winning, they will have the correct "code" to eradicate the ilness or virus and hopefully the white blood cells will take a copy of this for the future should the disease or virus return.

How did you stop smoking?

Answer:
Flat out COLD TURKEY here. I tried the patch, the gum, cuting myself back to even just 1 a day for weeks. But it always came back to not how well each of them worked, but how easy it was to just drop them and go right back to full blown smoking again.

So one day I thought, If they're not working it's because I'm just not ready. Plain and simple. And the only way that I would know if I was truly ready, was to just jump in and stop cold turkey. Then I felt like at least it was just me that I needed to fight. Not the gum, the prolonged urges, and whatever the heck I talked myself into for a good enough reason.

This way it was just talking myself out of those reasons. And the thing that helped me the best was "15 more minutes", and "just have to make it 1 week", and all of that. Because it really becomes 15 minutes at a time, and one day at a time until finally you just don't think about it.

Been 1 1/2 years and I still know that I'm a smoker.... Just one that hasn't had one in awhile. I don't think about them much anymore, but I'm sure as heck confident that it is easier to fight those little urges now, than to have to go through fighting the big cold turkey urges again.
i didnt, but if you want to, this is what you do, lock yourself in a room with 3 days worth of suppies and youll either go crazy or stop smoking, or in a win/%26#92;win sich, both =D
By never starting
You have to really want to first of all ,or all the quit plans in the world will never work.As for me I didn't quit and have know intentions of quiting, but that's my choice.
It is tough you probably need to schedule a couple of days of activities that you usually do not smoke at, this will keep you busy at least for the first couple of days.

If you look for some external help find something that doesn't feed you more nicotine, kinda defeats the purpose
