How can you reduce the risk of personal attack in health and social care environment?

Answer:
are you doing your nvq or something?
you can avoid personal attacks and challenging behaviour by talking to the people that have contact with the resident/client such as family or other care workers, by reading their case files and care plans. get to know what aggravates them or triggers them and the signs of agitation leading to the episode of bad behaviour. always put yourself in a safe place. with access to an exit unrestricted and never let your guard down. they could be fine one minute and aggressive the next. also always carry your mobile with you so you can call for back up and emergency services especially when working alone in an unfamiliar place. i could be more descriptive but need a specific setting. i do this stuff for a living.
buy a bloody big gun
Ensure all dangerous items are put away. If in residential care for example make sure that knives are locked away. As well as poisonous detergents, tools etc. Use relaxed communication techniques like avoiding maintaining eye contact. If in a volatile situation stand in a defensive stance... Errm, apart from that where chain mail...?
